Students can earn a scholarship to SCAD through SCAD Challenge
SCAD Challenge entries must consist of a single piece and demonstrate creativity, innovation, and a strong understanding of aesthetics. Students should let their design speak to their skill level and ability to handle university-level art and design assignments.

The undergraduate challenge is open to current juniors and seniors in high school as of the 2021-22 academic year. The transfer challenge is open to any student planning to transfer to SCAD during the 2022-23 academic year. The graduate challenge is open to any student planning to enroll in a SCAD graduate program during the 2022-23 academic year.

A panel of SCAD faculty will review and evaluate entries, and winners will be selected from each category. Students can apply and complete their submission by Feb. 14, 2022. Winners will be announced March 4, 2022. To learn more, visit scad.edu/challenge.

College Board Opportunity Scholarships – The Scholarship Program is open to juniors and seniors in high school, who meet all eligibility requirements stated online, and encourages them to complete six key college planning steps. opportunity.collegeboard.org. Deadline: February 28, 2022.

Do you want to explore innovative and creative entrepreneurship? Do you have an idea that could change the world? The High School Utah Entrepreneur Challenge (HSUEC) is your opportunity to showcase your innovation and entrepreneurial spirit and win cash and prizes. HSUEC is the high school counterpart of the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge, one of the largest collegiate competitions in the country. All Utah high school students, ages 14-18, are encouraged to compete in HSUEC. The program is managed by the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah and sponsored by Zions Bank. Students who have graduated high school or are enrolled full-time in college courses are not eligible to participate in the competition. These students are encouraged to participate in the collegiate Opportunity Quest and Utah Entrepreneur Challenge. Deadline: February 21, 2022. Apply Here


U of U ACCESS Scholarship – Talented students with a passion for science, math, and/or engineering and an interest in advancing gender equity in the STEM disciplines are invited to apply to ACCESS after acceptance to the U. The application deadline is March 1. ACCESS is truly the start of a lifetime for any STEM major! This exceptional program has a 30-year record of success and boasts a network of over 800 alumni.

Weber State Ethics Scholarship – seniors planning to attend Weber State may apply for a $1000 scholarship. Application includes writing an essay on one of three topics. See the website for details. https://weber.edu/richardsinstitute/ethics-scholarships.html Deadline: March 4, 2022.


South High Alumni Scholarship – did your parent or grandparent graduate from South High School? Direct descendants of a South High Alumnus who wishes to attend SLCC can earn full tuition scholarships for Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters. Jiffy Lube “What Drives You?” Scholarship – Our local Jiffy Lube owners are offering two $6,500 scholarship awards and six $1,500 scholarship awards to 8 local high school students – students simply have to write about “What Drives You?” – no grade point or test score requirements!

Horatio Alger Scholarship – Juniors with integrity, determination, and courage. 2.0 GPA is required, as well as financial need. Read more online. Application deadline: March 15, 2022.

Two Scholarships for students intending to become teachers:

  1. TEACHER RECRUITMENT SCHOLARSHIP for Diverse Students • For ethnic minority high school seniors who want to be public school teachers in Utah • Full ride scholarship at SLCC (up to 4 semesters) • Free textbooks while at SLCC • Financial support when transferring to the U of U • Scholarship application deadline: Apply by March 15, 2022.
  2. Teacher Education Initiative Scholarship (TEI) PURPOSE: To address the teacher shortage by recruiting, retaining, and training teachers to teach in the state of Utah. WHO SHOULD APPLY: Any student whose major is Education and who has a GPA of 3.0 or above. WHAT IT COVERS: Tuition and/or fees Access to free textbooks REQUIREMENTS: 1. Take 12 credit hours per semester 2. Take 2 EDU/FHS classes each semester 3. Maintain a 3.0 GPA 4. Attend your scholarship class (EDU 1003) with no more than 2 absences each semester. Apply by March 15, 2022.

Energy Pathways Scholarship —seniors who are pursuing a STEM degree at a Utah-based college.

Five — $2,000 scholarships for students pursuing a STEM degree or certification from a Utah trade technical or community college.
Five — $4000 Scholarships for students pursuing a STEM degree at a Utah University.

The Energy Pathways Scholarship is open to DACA recipients and does not require a GPA or resume.

Utah JumpStart Financial Literacy Spring 2021 Scholarship—Submit a 60 second YouTube video addressing the following questions: “What are 3 important skills from your financial literacy class that will help you prepare for college and life after college?” Deadline: April 15, 2022. State Scholarships Available to Students

 

 

USHE State Aid Programs

Utah Promise Scholarship – Students with Pell Grant eligibility (need-based through FAFSA) may receive full tuition and fees for up to two years. Other awards of similar value and requirements may be offered through your institution.  Ask your financial aid officer about your eligibility.

Higher Education Success Stipend – grant available to undergraduate students with financial need who are studying in a Utah college. Ask your financial aid office for assistance.

Talent Development Incentive Loan Program – Forgivable loan program for Utah residents who wish to study and work in one of the following careers: Information Science/Studies, Computer & Information Sciences, Computer & Info Systems Security/Info Assurance, Computer Systems Networking & Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems. Students should verify eligibility degree programs with institution. Students must first attend one semester in an associate’s program and two semesters in a bachelor’s program. Value: tuition, books and fees. Requirement: one year work = one year loan forgiveness. See institution financial aid office for details and qualifications.

T.H. Bell Scholarship – Available to those intent on entering the teaching profession at a public school in Utah. These applications are processed by the education department and/or financial aid offices at each institution. The award covers tuition, fees, and books for up to four years of full-time enrollment. Institution must have state-approved teacher education program. Priority for first-generation students and those intending to work in high-need fields.

WICHE Professional Student Exchange Program for students planning to attend one of the qualifying 11 western Out-of-State institutions. Students will pay reduced level of tuition. Completed forms are due 10/15/2020.
